Tribe Lacrosse : Leagues: Super 7's FAQ's

Q & A:

WHY IS SUPER 7's PLAYER ORGANIZED RATHER THAN ORGANIZED BY A COACH/PARENT REP?
WE FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PLAYERS TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP, INITIATIVE AND TEAMWORK.  A PEER ORGANIZED TEAM HELPS PLAYERS DO THIS!  IT BUILDS CHARACTER AND TEACHES LIFE LESSONS.

WHY ARE HIGH SCHOOL COACHES NOT ALLOWED TO COACH PLAYERS?
HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ARE AWESOME, WE JUST ASK THAT IF YOU COME TO SUPER 7'S THAT YOU CHEER YOUR PLAYERS ON FROM THE FAN SIDELINES!  OUR REASON IS ALONG THE SAME LINES AS ABOVE.  PLAYERS NEED TO DEVELOP CHARACTER AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME WITHOUT THE CONSTANT DIRECTION AND DICTATION OF A COACH!  IT ALSO HELPS THE PLAYERS SEE THE GAME UNFOLD AND LEARN HOW TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS ON THEIR OWN.  THIS WILL HELP THEIR LACROSSE IQ SO THEY CAN BECOME SMARTER LACROSSE PLAYERS.  PLUS, IT CAN KEEP SOME PRESSURE TO PERFORM OFF AND PLAYERS PLAY FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PLAYING ON A SMALL FIELD LIKE SUPER 7'S?
FAST PACED ACTION!  PLAYING IN A SMALLER AREA IS DESIGNED TO TEACH THE PLAYERS TO MOVE THE BALL QUICKLY, MAKE FASTER DECISIONS AND PLAY BOTH SIDES OF THE GAME (OFFENSE AND DEFENSE).  THEY BECOME WELL ROUNDED LACROSSE PLAYERS THE MORE THEY CAN PLAY BOTH SIDES OF THE GAME.

WHY CAP EACH TEAM AT A MAX OF 14 PLAYERS AND 2 GOALIES?
THE CAPS ARE BASED ON EACH REGISTERED PLAYER BEING ABLE TO HAVE AT LEAST 50% PLAYING TIME IF EVERY ROSTERED PLAYER IS IN ATTENDANCE THAT NIGHT.

CAN COMPETITION CLUB TEAMS ENTER A TEAM INTO THE LEAGUE?
NO, THIS LEAGUE IS INTENDED FOR HIGH SCHOOL BASED TEAMS ALIGNED WITH THE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STRUCTURE.  IF A HIGH SCHOOL LACROSSE PROGRAM CANNOT GET ENOUGH PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE THEY MAY COMBINE WITH ANOTHER HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM OR FREE AGENTS MAY BE ADDED TO THEIR TEAM AS COMMUNICATED TO THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR.

OUR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM WANTS TO ENTER MORE THAN ONE TEAM.  HOW DO WE SPLIT UP PLAYERS?
THE DIVIDING UP OF PLAYERS IN A HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM THAT IS INTERESTED IN PLAYING SUPER 7'S IS DONE BY THE TEAM CAPTAINS OR PROGRAM, NOT SUPER 7'S STAFF.  MOST PROGRAMS WITH TWO OR MORE TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE SEPARATE BY SKILL LEVEL MAKING A VARSITY AND JV BASED TEAM.  SOME DO A "DRAFT" TO MAKE THE TEAMS EVEN.  IT'S WHAT EVEN WORKS FOR THAT TEAM OR PROGRAM.

CAN OUR COACHES OR PARENTS REPS HELP ADMINISTER THE TEAM?
FOR THE REASONS STATED ABOVE, THIS LEAGUE FOCUSED ON BEING PLAYER ORGANIZED, HOWEVER WE REALIZE THAT TEAM CAPTAINS MAY HAVE SUPPORT FROM THE PROGRAM LEADERSHIP WHICH IS FINE.  WE JUST ASK THAT COMMUNICATION WITH THE LEAGUE AND ANY ON FIELD ORGANIZATION IS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DESIGNATED PLAYER CAPTAIN.

IF OUR HIGH SCHOOL TEAM HAS MULTIPLE TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN SUPER 7'S CAN WE PLAY ON THE SAME NIGHT?
THE FIRST THREE WEEKS ARE POOL PLAY AND WE CAN SCHEDULE THE TEAMS ON THE SAME NIGHT OF THE WEEK.  THE LAST THREE WEEKS ARE BRACKET PLAY WHICH ARE BASED ON POOL SEEDING INTO EACH BRACKET.  THE GAME NIGHT FOR EACH BRACKET IS SET AT THE START OF THE SEASON AND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CHANGE THE GAME TIME/DATE.  IF THERE IS A MAJOR TEAM CONFLICT THAT IS KNOWN IN ADVANCE, THE TEAM CAPTAIN MAY WORK TO RE-SCHEDULE THE GAME AT LEAST 5 DAYS IN ADVANCE WITH THE OTHER TEAMS CAPTAINS BY SEEING IF ANOTHER GAME SLOT CAN SWITCH.  ALL FOUR TEAMS MUST AGREE TO THE SWITCH AND NOTIFY THEIR PLAYERS DIRECTLY.

IF OUR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM ENTERS MORE THAN ONE TEAM INTO THE LEAGUE CAN EACH TEAM HAVE THE SAME CAPTAIN?
YES, BUT ONCE THE TEAMS ARE SET WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CO-CAPTAIN THAT IS ROSTERED ON THE OTHER TEAMS.  THIS IS JUST IN CASE WE HAVE A GAME NIGHT WITH WEATHER ISSUES OR A SITUATION THAT MAY COME UP THAT IS TEAM SPECIFIC.

CAN OUR HIGH SCHOOL TEAM REQUEST TO PLAY ON A CERTAIN NIGHT OF THE WEEK?
PLAYERS AND TEAMS WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO PLAY ON EITHER NIGHT OF THE WEEK AS THE SCHEDULE DICTATES.  ON RARE OCCASIONS AND FOR A GOOD CAUSE, THE LEAGUE MAY GRANT TEAMS A NIGHT REQUEST FOR THE FIRST THREE WEEK ONLY.  AFTER POOL PLAY (THE FIRST THREE WEEKS OF GAMES) ALL TEAMS FEED INTO ONE OF SEVERAL CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETS.  THE BRACKETS ARE PRE-SET AT THE START OF THE SEASON BASED ON POOL PLACEMENT. THEY ARE PRE-SET BY DAY, TIME AND FIELD SO THAT A TEAMS WIN/LOSS THE WEEK PRIOR DETERMINES THEIR NEXT WEEKS GAME. THE BRACKETS WILL PLAY ON THE SAME NIGHT OF THE WEEK FOR THE REMAINING OF THE SEASON.

OUR TEAM HAS A SCHOOL EVENT ON A SCHEDULED GAME NIGHT.  CAN OUR GAME BE CHANGED?
THE TEAM CAPTAINS MAY WORK WITH EACH OTHER TO SWITCH GAMES.  IF YOUR TEAM HAS A CONFLICT WHERE THE ENTIRE TEAM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY DURING YOUR SCHEDULED TIME, THE TEAM CAPTAIN MUST FIRST REACH OUT TO THE OPPOSING TEAM CAPTAIN TO SEE IF THEY CAN SWITCH THE GAME NIGHT OR TIME.  IF THEY AGREE, THEN THE TEAM CAPTIAN CAN REACH OUT TO THE OTHER TEAM CAPTAINS ON THE NIGHT OR TIME DESIRED TO SWITCH TO SEE IF BOTH TEAMS CAN WITCH GAMES. ONCE ALL 3 TEAMS AGREE TO THE SWITCH (PLUS YOUR TEAM OF COURSE!) THEN YOU CAN NOTIFY THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR THAT ALL 4 TEAMS HAVE AGREED TO SWITCH.  THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR WILL THEN SEEK CONFIRMATION FROM THE 3 OTHER TEAMS.  ONCE RECEIVED THE GAME WILL BE OFFICIALLY MOVED.  ALL GAME SWITCHES WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED AT LEAST 72 HRS IN ADVANCE OF THE FIRST GAME INVOLVED IN THE SWITCH.
